What measures are in place for food allergies and dietary restrictions?
At SDSU Dining, we use the term "Allergen-Friendly" to describe dishes that are free from the top 9 major allergens. Our team is dedicated to identifying ingredients that may cause allergic reactions and undergo regular training to ensure accurate labeling and proper food preparation methods to minimize cross-contact risks. However, please note that our dining centers are not certified allergy-free or gluten-free, as other items served may contain major allergens. Our self-operated kitchens (UTK, The Garden Restaurant, and Aztec Markets) strive to provide allergen-friendly options. However, food from third-party vendors on campus may have different allergen management practices. We cannot guarantee that these meals are free from allergens or safe from cross-contact.
If you have concerns about cross-contact or specific dietary needs, we strongly recommend reaching out and scheduling a meeting with our registered dietitian, Amanda Nazario (aashbynazario@sdsu.edu) using the provided this link.
